Hoy 23 de junio, se celebra el Día Internacional del Síndrome de Dravet, una enfermedad rara y catastrófica que se manifiesta en 1 de cada 16.000 nacimientos. La enfermedad se manifiesta durante el primer año de vida y se caracteriza por convulsiones febriles prolongadas y recurrentes, que suelen ser resistentes a los medicamentos antiepilépticos convencionales. Además de las convulsiones, los niños con el Síndrome de Dravet pueden experimentar retraso en el desarrollo cognitivo, problemas de movimiento, dificultades de lenguaje y comportamiento, así como un mayor riesgo de sufrir problemas de salud adicionales, como trastornos respiratorios y cardíacos. Esta enfermedad tiene un impacto significativo en la calidad de vida de los niños y sus familias, y actualmente no existe una cura.
Desde Rosan International queremos ofrecer todo nuestro apoyo a las familias y a la Fundación Síndrome Dravet de España, que lleva a cabo una impresionante labor de apoyo a los pacientes y sus familias. Como parte de esta labor la fundación está apoyando diversas terapias innovadoras para mejorar el manejo y la calidad de vida de aquellos afectados por este síndrome, incluyendo terapias génicas que por primera vez representan una esperanza de curación.

Sobre la Fundación Síndrome de Dravet
La Fundación Síndrome de Dravet es la organización nacional de pacientes con síndrome de Dravet. Fue creada en 2011 por un grupo de padres con hijos afectados por esta enfermedad rara. Su objetivo principal es promover y garantizar el desarrollo de la investigación en el entorno del síndrome de Dravet para conseguir avanzar en el conocimiento de sus causas, mejorar su diagnóstico y hallar fármacos y tratamientos efectivos que permitan mitigar e incluso eliminar las consecuencias de la enfermedad.

Today, June 23rd is International Dravet Syndrome Awareness Day. This is a rare and catastrophic disease that affects 1 in every 16,000 births. In addition to seizures, children with Dravet Syndrome may experience cognitive developmental delays, movement problems, language difficulties, and behavioral issues, as well as an increased risk of additional health problems such as respiratory and cardiac disorders. This disease has a significant impact on the quality of life of affected children and their families, and currently, there is no cure.
At Rosan International, we want to offer our full support to the families and the Dravet Syndrome Foundation in Spain, which carries out an impressive work of supporting patients and their families. As part of this work, the foundation is supporting various innovative therapies to improve the management and quality of life of those affected by this syndrome, including gene therapies that, for the first time, represent a hope for a cure.

About the Dravet Syndrome Foundation
The Dravet Syndrome Foundation is the national organization for patients with Dravet Syndrome. It was established in 2011 by a group of parents with children affected by this rare disease. Its main objective is to promote and ensure the development of research in the field of Dravet Syndrome to advance the understanding of its causes, improve diagnosis, and find effective drugs and treatments that can mitigate or even eliminate the consequences of the disease.
